The family name Weinmann represents a successful tradition in sidecar motocross. Brothers Klaus and Thomas Weinmann succeeded in the 1990s with a runner-up world championship title and five German championship titles. It was likely that Joshua and Noah, the sons of passenger Thomas Weinmann, would also make their way in this sport.

But everything changed on June 28, 2025. During the world championship race in Lommel, Belgium, rider Joshua was seriously injured. Two vertebraes were broken, one vertebra had to be replaced. Their lead in the German Championship and 11th place in the world championship standings were lost, but more importantly: Joshua will not suffer any lasting damage. Whether the student can — and wants to — continue his sporting career after recovering can only be decided at the end of 2026.
